Course content

The course will consist of two practical workshops and a guided, group walk in nature where you can practise what you have learned with guidance from a highly skilled and experienced instructor.

You will also receive information and support from the Coast and Country Canines team on how to help your local wildlife thrive when you’re out walking with your dog in nature.

You’ll get hands-on experience, expert guidance, and tailored advice to help you walk confidently and considerately in wildlife-rich areas. At the end of the course, you and your dog will receive a certificate of attendance (you must have attended all three sessions to get your certificate).

Other important details

Cost: We want to make sure that this course is accessible to all, while fairly compensating our professionals for their valuable time and experience. So, we are subsidising the usual £70 price of similar courses to make it £10 per dog for both training sessions and the guided group walk. This is non-refundable, unless the course is cancelled by us or K9 Klass Dog Training.

Available spaces: Maximum of 6 dogs, and a minimum of 4 for the course to run. One dog per person – dog handlers must be over 18. Children may attend but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Accessibility: The inside space at Clanfield Memorial Hall is fully accessible, however there is uneven ground in the outside space. If you have any questions about accessibility at this venue, please contact Juanita so she can advise.

The pavement sections of Broadmarsh Coastal Park are flat, but the grassy areas are uneven. We will encounter slopes along our route.

Nervous dogs: If you have a nervous dog and are unsure if a group training session will be suitable for them, please contact Juanita for advice before booking.

Important note about dog walking equipment:  We cannot allow the use of prong collars, shock collars (sometimes called e-collars), choke chains, or any other kinds of aversive equipment at our workshops. These tools pose safety risks and fall outside of our ethical guidelines. You are still welcome to join us using a standard harness, and we are happy to discuss why we take this stance and ethical alternatives.
