On Saturday 24 May, River Hamble Country Park was taken over by wagging tails, muddy paws, and lots of happy humans.
Our very first Coast and Country Canines Dogs’ Day Out was a celebration of everything we love about dogs, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. Whether you came to learn, play, or simply enjoy a day out with your four-legged friend, you helped make the event something special.
More Than Just a Day Out
As well as being a fun day of activities and games, Dogs’ Day Out was also about promoting responsible and ethical dog ownership. That’s why we invited a fantastic lineup of local trainers and canine professionals who put welfare and ethics first.
Visitors had free access to expert advice on everything from training techniques to choosing the right walking gear. It was a chance to learn, connect, and leave with practical tips to make everyday walks more enjoyable—for both dogs and their humans.
Highlights from the Day
- Goodall Dog Training gave live demos on engagement and loose lead walking, with loads of great tips on having fun, stress-free adventures with your dog.
- K9 Klass Dog Training brought the fun with scentwork games, showing how engaging our dogs’ noses can be a brilliant way to build connection and focus during walks.
- GreenDog Dog Training offered expert guidance on walking equipment, while 360 Pawsibilities shone a spotlight on the often-misunderstood muzzle. Their advice helped many owners feel more confident about choosing safe, comfortable gear.
- The Southampton Blue Cross team kept tails wagging with sausage bobbing, a raffle, and a lucky dip. 4 Paws and Planet were on hand to provide eco-friendly toys and treats, while Dogs in Focus Photography snapped some amazing pictures of the lovely dogs who joined us for the day.
- Muddy Canicross Runners were there with a range of harnesses for dogs to try, and we were also joined by the New Forest Dog Owners Group. Petacarium were also at the ready with portable dog showers for those muddier walks.
- Our activity trail was a favourite, and watching the dogs navigate obstacles and puzzles was not only entertaining but a great reminder of how much dogs can enjoy taking on a new challenge with encouragement from their favourite people.
